Robert Torrence, PhD
Research Scientist
Robert Torrence, Ph.D., joined the ThinkAlike Laboratories team as a data scientist in 2022. He earned his BA with honors in applied psychology from the University of Illinois at Springfield and his MS in experimental psychology from Northern Michigan University. Additionally, he holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, with a focus on cognitive neuroscience, from Colorado State University. Dr. Torrence also served in the US Army in the 3rd US Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). Previously, Dr. Torrence was a postdoctoral research fellow at Wayne State University in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and an assistant professor at Saint Xavier University.
Dr. Torrence’s extensive research, which has been published in leading journals such as Psychophysiology and the International Journal of Psychophysiology, focuses on using electroencephalography (EEG) to study brain activity related to emotional facial expressions and attentional bias. He has also worked with near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI), administering clinical interviews, and conducting clinical trials.
